Dalton Kieta

Dalton Kieta was originally born in Chicago, but considers himself a Denver native. Although he talks like a surfer, the only waves he’s ever surfed are the sound waves. In between chasing girls, working with the Metro Radio Station, and eating at Wahoo’s Fish Taco’s, you can find Dalton producing music next to a lava lamp in his dorm. Through Dalton’s younger years he has phased through all genres from punk rock and blues, to reggae and classical, all of which he still enjoys, but on weekends you can catch him getting digital at electronic shows with his robot ears on.

The Scene: Michael Franti was no doubt one of the best, most “feel good”, non-electronic shows I have ever been to. Through out the whole show the crowd was grasping at the sky trying to catch a piece of the magic.

Favorite Moment: Imagine Michael Franti and Spearhead 30 rows up in the center of the stands at Red Rocks immersed in a sea of 10,000 jumping fans.

Michael Franti could not have picked a more randomly perfect match from the crowd to share the microphone with him during the track “Ganja Baby”.

It was a soul moving night from beginning to end, including the opener Zach Heckendorf Band, composed of a startlingly talented group of Colorado local musicians that aren’t even 20 yet! You can listen to Zach Heckendorf’s tunes for free through KBCO's website!

FYI: Having sold out literally an hour before the show, Michael Franti had a packed house with the most diverse crowd I’ve ever seen, from young hippies to older seasoned Red Rocks veterans, to some people that came with the whole family; there were happy faces everywhere you looked.
