About the Artist
The performance at the Ogden marked Kimbra’s third visit to Colorado (first with Gotye and then with Foster the People at Red Rocks Amphitheater) and her first headlining show. The singer was brought to the public’s attention with Gotye’s duet “Somebody that I Used to Know” and has continued to captivate audiences with her strong vocals and adorable demeanor when performing.
The Music
The highlight of the night was Kimbra’s performance of her best known song, “Settle Down." After asking the crowd to get really quiet, Kimbra began the song by taking her own vocals and looping them live. A minor disappointment was the performance of her newest single, “Get into my Head," which sounded fantastic but did not manage to convey the eeriness of the new video that is paired with it.
Other Notes
One of the greatest things about seeing a Kimbra performance is getting to see her clothes. The singer is a fan of vintage and avant-garde clothing, giving her an utterly unique doll-like style. Her costume did not disappoint that night, looking like something between an Irish dance competition dress and a pom-pom.
