Who: Delta Spirit
Where: Fox Theatre
The Crowd: Loyal Delta Spirit fans filled the Fox Theatre. Each one singing along to Matthew Vasquez’s lyrics and expressing their love for the band. The energy and expectations were high in the crowd but the band fulfilled each one’s need to hear their favorite Delta tune.
The Stage: The theater and stage remained darkly lit throughout the show to contrast the hard, white lights of the band’s triangular stage design that flickered and flowed in the pattern of a carnival ferris wheel. It created an intimate mood between the band and the audience that gave the music a personal touch.
The Good/Bad: The band played half of the show with new music from the new self-titled album, Delta Spirit, which has more of electric rock n’ roll sound which kept the crowd moving and the energy high, but I would have liked to hear more earlier acoustic works that I’ve admired since their release of History From Below.
