Aurora Temple

Aurora is originally from Dallas, TX, but moved to Colorado to attend the University of Denver. As a recent graduate with far more time on her hands than she knows what to do with, she is devoting her time to documenting and attending as many concerts and festivals as possible. Live music is her passion and reviewing her experiences at shows is her way of giving back to the community that has given her so much joy and so many memories. Follow Rori on Twitter: @auroratemple

Favorite Moment: When Bassnectar announced that he received such an overwhelming number of requests (over 500!) for Colorado bassheads’ favorite tune, the infamous “Pink Elephants,” he was forced to acquiesce our request and give us what we wanted. OH YES, PINK ELEPHANTS!

The Scene: Though Red Rocks Amphitheater has been open for a few weeks, for many, this was the night that kicked off their summer Red Rocks season. You could feel the overwhelming vibrations excitement radiating off the concert attendees; the positive energy was palpable. You could feel the build up of anticipation running through the crowd during the opening acts as we waited for Bassnectar to take the stage.

The Show:  The show consisted of him teasing our senses with various levels of heavy bass and eclectic beats like the extremely talented aural puppeteer he is. He played a ton of old-school hits from his earlier albums, which we long-term bassheads truly appreciated. It really felt like he knew the dedication of crowd that was attending his two-night run and thanked us for being such devoted funs through his excellently chosen set list including “Boombox”, “Underwater” and his own remix of the Pixies’ “Where is my Mind?”  Another gem of the evening was how he closed out the show with a beautiful piano crescendo, bidding us farewell and reminding us of the roots of music and how beautiful music can be.

FYI: Bassnectar said he was going to bring the heat tonight, so let’s get ready to rage!
