Extremely frightening news came out of Toronto last Saturday as Radiohead’s stage COLLAPSED (that’s right, collapsed as in caved in, fell apart, BROKE), killing the bands drum technician, Scott Johnson. Three others were seriously injured.
The concert was cancelled, and the cause of the collapse has not been identified. The stage was heavily damaged and there is no indication for when this will be rescheduled. The event was sold out, leaving 40,000 fans heartbroken for the band and Johnson’s family, and heartbroken the show was off. One could only imagine the chaos if the entire band perished in this accident on their welcome back tour.
While the cancellation is a bummer, this is a somber reminder to remember that crew members work hard to make the show go off without a hitch, and are always looking out for your safety.
From the bands website:
“We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague. He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott's family and all those close to him."
